The Ozaukee County Historical Society brings you the sights, smells and sounds of fall at their Autumn Farm Days fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 1st and Sunday Oct 2nd at Ozaukee County Pioneer Village in Saukville. Enjoy a day in the country that is fun for the whole family.
Visitors will see historic demonstrations of blacksmithing, weaving, spinning, corn shelling and embroidery to name a few. Blacksmith and broom making classes. The smells of mulled cider, seasonal foods cooking on the wood stove and bread baking in the Summer Kitchen will fill the air. Sunday Pancake Breakfast followed by music of Limited Edition from Port Washington High School.
Focus on rural farming history includes antique tractions, engines, tractor rides, the Wisconsin Potato Growers and Ag Council, farm trivia and century farm families and history. Also, children can do a "Ride My First Tractor".
Everyone can take part in a 15-minute wagon ride, through Hawthorne Hills Park. Pumpkins, squash, gourds, apples and hand-made brooms will be available for sale.
Children can participate in craft activities which will include, rope making, corn-husk doll making, wooden puzzle making.
Finally, families can relax and enjoy a warm bowl of homemade chicken with dumpling soup, pulled chicken sliders, pulled pork sliders or cheeseburgers. Some of the other fall foods that will be served are hot cider, pumpkin pie, with Pumpkin or Apple ice cream.
Admission is $8 Adults, $6 Students/Seniors and Children under 5 are free.
