Economic Development:Town Center

Town Center

The Town Center initiative is a 10-15 year vision for development and revitalization within the Mequon Civic Campus area and the Main Street corridor in Thiensville. This plan was developed and is being implemented with active participation from both communities and the Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce.
Key elements to the project include:
  • Development of a riverwalk along the Milwaukee River as a way to provide a pedestrian link between communities.
  • Introduction of additional housing opportunities throughout the corridor to expand the customer base and add activity to the pedestrian environment.
  • Revitalization of key retail areas to meet the needs of community residents.
  • Enhancement of the Mequon Civic Campus, its recreational facilities and the addition of a community green.
This Town Center will become the centrally located "heart" of both Mequon and Thiensville. It will foster interaction among residents, encourage gatherings and activities, provide a pleasant pedestrian atmosphere along the river, offer shops and restaurants, and feature quality architecture and site design.
