Is there an area taxi service? Ozaukee County Shared-Ride Taxi operates from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday-Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday; and 8:00 a.m. to Noon on Sunday. The service can be reached at 262-238-TAXI (8294) or 284-8294. You can also get the details at the Ozaukee Transit web site . How do I change the address on my driver's license? You can do this over the phone, through the mail or in person at the nearest state Department of Motor Vehicle location. The nearest DMV office is located in Port Washington at 513 W. Grand Ave. If you'd rather do it via the mail or phone, you can get the details at the DMV's web site . How do I change my address with the Postal Service? You can do this in person at the Thiensville Post Office, 124 W. Freistadt Road, or you can do it online at the Postal Service web site. How do I register children for school? To begin the enrollment process in the Mequon-Thiensville School District, the student's parent/guardian should go to the nearest school. If you have questions about school registration, call 262-238-8500 or visit the district's web site for more information. When is the trash picked up? Mequon residents are required to contract privately with a licensed hauler for garbage and recycling pickup. The licensed haulers are: Onyx Waste Services (262) 679-0860; Ozaukee Disposal (262) 377-4640; or Waste Management (262) 253-8440. In Thiensville, the village has hired Onyx Waste Services to pick up trash. To find out when your garbage and recyclables will be collected, call Village Hall at (414) 242-3720. Where is City Hall and Village Hall? What are the hours? Mequon City Hall is located at 11333 N. Cedarburg Road. It's open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m Mondays through Fridays. Thiensville Village Hall is located at 250 Elm St. It's open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Who are my local elected officials? How can I reach them? Mequon is led by an elected part-time mayor who serves as the city's chief executive officer. The Common Council consists of eight aldermen, with one elected from each district. A full-time city administrator oversees the day-to-day operations of the city. The current mayor is Curt Gielow. Click here for phone numbers and email address for all city officials. Here's a map of aldermanic districts to find out who your alderman is. Thiensville is governed by a seven-member Village Board, which is headed by the village president, Karl Hertz. How do I register to vote? Where do I vote? You can register to vote at the Mequon City Hall or Thiensville Village Hall prior to election day, or you can register at the polling place on the day of the election, provided you have proper identification.
