About the Region:Parks

Parks

Mequon and Thiensville expand the recreational outdoors with numerous parks encompassing hundreds of acres. Several of the area's parks are passive, conservancy parks, some offering hiking and biking trails. Several of these parks offer facilities that can be rented for indoor and outdoor gatherings. Contact 262-236-2918 for more information on Mequon parks and 262-242-3720 for information on Thiensville Park.

The Ozaukee Interurban Trail organization, which operates the increasingly popular 30-mile paved biking/hiking path from Mequon north to Port Washington and Belgium, published an outstanding Trailside Birding Guide. It's a very valuable and free resource for any visitor to the Milwaukee area who enjoys seeing and identifying wild birds. Best of all, it's free. Click here to request a copy or to download a pdf.

  • Mequon Nature Preserve: represents the state-of-the-art in restoration ecology, multi-agency collaboration, and community involvement is growing right here in Mequon. This preserve is combining a volunteer seed-collection campaign, an adaptive restoration plan, and funds from the State Stewardship Fund, the City of Mequon, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, and many generous private donors. The result is an aggressive reforestation plan, dozens of acres of restored wetlands, and a nature preserve that will continue to grow for generations to come. Click here to go to their website
